Tonic opening night

Ink-dot Tonic opening night

With much excitement, we finally launched our latest exhibition last night - 'Tonic'. A good time was had by all as artists mixed with punters, who mixed with the great and the good of Bristol, who mixed with random passer-bys, who mixed with friends and family. This was also the first time that the names of all the artists was revealed, so there was a great feeling of discovery around the gallery.

We spent all of Wednesday and Thursday preparing and hanging the work, and yet again the final result looks stunning. A-side from any personal interest we may have in our exhibitions, we do always feel that they create a really fun exciting visual spectacle for anyone lucky enough to see them.

In this show, again, there is a massively wide range of styles and approaches to image making on display. There really is very little clashing in the way of drawing styles by any of the artists. Plus there is the seemingly random range of execuions of the title/theme of the show... again there are very few pieces within the show which are tackling the same visual idea. But the fact that everyone starts with the same colour palette creates an almost subliminal connection between all the works.

For the Tonic exhibition about half of the artist on show have exhibited with us before, and the other half are brand new to us. Last night was fun, finally putting faces to names, and finding connections between people you'd never meet before or had only communicated with via computer... I personally ran into someone I've not seen for 15 years, and the mid-wife to my son... Which was nice.

We will post more (better) photos from the evening as the rest of the Ink-dot team poke their head above ground. But for now, we can't stress enough the importance for your own sole and well being, of getting down to Colston Hall and checking out the Tonic show for yourself. Honestly, you'll feel all the better for it.

Big thanks as always goes out to Hello Blue and Hannah McVicar, who make Ink-dot work - simple as that. But also big big big thanks to all the exhibiting artists, without whom our show would be a tad dull.
